Old character gîte in south Vendee, not far from La Rochelle and the Marais Poitevin. Our gîte, very comfortable for 4 adults and 2 children, is situated in the quiet village of Saint Michel le Cloucq, above Fontenay le Comte. It is a rustic cottage, fully restored to its original appearance, with exposed local stone walls, wooden beams and wooden floor, tiled ground floor. It is furnished with antique french country furniture. A restful base for exploring and enjoying the Vendee Region.

Local facilities in the village include a bar, a ferme-auberge restaurant. The attractive Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte is a short drive away, and this has a wide range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as playing host to an excellent market every Saturday morning. |

The ground floor has a large living room with a stone fireplace, hi-fi, 1 satellite TV with English, german, dutch, Spanish … channels, video recorder/player, DVD player, telephone, free wifi internet connection.
The kitchen is fully fitted and equipped with all modern facilities. It has a dishwasher, a microwave oven, full oven, fridge and ceramic hobs.
There is a separate laundry room with a washing machine and a fridge/freezer. There is a bathroom and separate wc.
One double bedroom (bed 1.60 m wide) with french television/video recorder/player and en suite shower room.
Upstairs there is a double bedroom (bed 1.40 m wide) and a mezzanine bedroom (2 beds each 1.20 m wide).
A cot, a highchair and a baby bath can be provided on request.
For quiet evenings, there are games, French and English books and video cassettes.
Bathroom towels, house linen and bed linen is provided, the beds are made prior to arrival.
All rooms have electric heating.
The garden is private, surrounded by hedges and there is a stone patio with garden furniture, a large outdoor roofed dining area with a purpose built chimney-barbecue, a private parking.
2 mountain bicycles for adults and 3 mountain bicycles for children are available free of charge.
